According to the most recent census bureau, there are about 34 million foreign born people living in the United States. 13 percent of immigrants reported having some type of tablet computer while two-thirds had the ipad specifically. Surprisingly enough, only 5 percent of Americans had some form of tablet computer. After looking at this data one might ask why is there such a large difference in percentages between Americans and Immigrants that own tablet computers. It is suggested that many immigrants may come from places around the world that is more willing to accept new technology and the change that comes with it than Americans are. A lot of the immigrants were also very willing to buy new and improved tablet computers in the future.

I assume that the opportunity and the accessibility of new technology also has an influence on the ownership of tablet computers and their concentration in the hands of minorities. Also reported by CNN, the population by 2050 will be a majority of the minority and outnumber the non-Hispanic white popualtion. With that stated, the data in this article you discussed can possibly be paired with the purchasing power of the minority. Since experts can clearly witness a demographic change in the population now and increasingly in the future, the big corporations are seeking ways to advertise and attract this certain sector of society. The marketing and business side of new media should be taken into consideration when providing suggestions on the relationship between immigrants and tablet computers.
