AOL has purchased the Huffington Post for 315 million dollars. Many people thought that the entire AOL company had died out since not many people used dial up internet anymore. AOL is now a full out media site. The industry will rapidly begin to consolidate as media companies merge with the online market. The industry will however be more willing to take more risks after seeing how well AOL will do from buying Huffington Post.
This will be very influential to other media websites that are in the process of dying out. They will be able to merge together and/or buy out struggling websites that could use their assistance. This means that dial up companies and other businesses that are becoming extinct may be able to revive their selves.
